I hope you had a good weekend too, did you do anything fun?
J.

I had a dancing friday for DC's birthday and a Polish dinner on saturday at AP's place, with big discussion about the embryo bill, and finally sunday lunch with Italian friends in Oxford.....
Silvia

Not sure I would want to discuss the half man - half cow chimera thing over dinner, at least not while eating steak anyway! ;) It’s a fascinating subject, amazing that they can do it, but you have to ask should they be doing it? Anyway…
J.

Life is full of surprises

Morning

Was thinking about our Nottingham chat-ette last night and wondered how things are with you – remembered you were feeling a bit on the outside and dismissed when around A. and D.

Things improving?

Mark

Well I think I can learn how to manage it when I am in a good mood....

A. has been very friendly and funny last time I saw him, we seem to have still some communication problem, maybe I shouldn't insist making jokes with my bad Italian accent... he seems to keep thinking I'm serious when I'm joking! But I can't help it,I used to say stupid things all the time when I was in Italy....

With D. I don't know really yesterday he was obviously in a bad mood and I'm never sure what he wants from me.... he wants me to do "something" when he cycle begins, such as setting up the calibrations, but he doesn't really tells me. So yesterday I went down in the hall for doing it and he was already there. Ok I was late, but there weren't neutrons anyway. And he's not coming in early either usually. So I try to arrange things beforehand, for example I went to see him last week in order to have an idea of what was happening on this cycle, etc. (if I don't go he thinks I can read it from him mind). So this is the difficult thing, I have to guess and he doesn't tell me and you never know if he's upset because of me or what (and i'll leave this what unexpressed).

Finally yesterday I ended up upsetting him completely because I needed help with writing a proposal and basically I didn't leave his office until he took a piece of paper and sat down with me to do the calculation. I normally try to think over things on my own but sometimes I just need help and after all what are they going to do with all their knowledge if they don't transfer it?

So I'm fighting and in a good mood but after all this "begging" yesterday i really needed an injection of self-esteem or some chocolate.

Sorry Mark, way too many unrequired details?

Thanks for asking anyway!

Silvia
Hi

Thanks for sharing

Not sure I can help with self-esteem expect to say believe in yourself – you seem to be doing all the right things to try and develop a working relationship. I’ll tell you a story one day (will have to be after a few beers though!). I make jokes all the time – nobody seems to understand me either and I don’t have an Italian accent

As for chocolate – your wish is my command ; )

Mark

Closer to death

Ricevo e trasmetto per vostro diletto....

On Friday 4th April, yes this friday, i become another year closer to my impending death, which according to the national audit office will be 86 years if i continue to live on the ladygrove estate in D.

come and commiserate with me in O. on friday evening, no particular plans at the moment, but i will almost certainly end up in gratuitous dancing exploits at bar R. or some other equally nasty establishment.
